Printer abuse, take.. eh, 3 or so. I got the idea from :icon'ursulav:, who works up a something digitally, then prints it out and bangs at it with traditional media.
I can't get thick paper through my printer, so in casting about for something else to stuff in it, I found some watercolor canvas. Hmm, I said.. the printer made horrid noises but it worked beautifully.
So, this is a digital print (I overprinted it about four times, actually), with metallic inks and acrylic paint and pigment pen and pastel and all manner of things worked on top of it.
Holy wow!!! Thank you! And to be honest, I really didn't want to post this one, because I was rather meh about how it turned out.
*bounce* Now I want to paint another.
I could hug you for saying that they all have personality; that's something I strive for more of in.. well, everything, no matter what I'm drawing. It's fun to try with the wolves, since I draw people so often.

GLEE! Thank you!! It wasn't hard at all. If you ever want to try it, let me know, and I can explain in boring, exhaustive, smack-me-to-hush-me-up detail. XD
Okay, maybe I'd sum up here and there.
Anyway. Gleeeee! I wasn't sure about this at all, but I had so much fun doing it, that I hated to just not post it.

I'll say it again: I like this one better than the rest. Maybe it's the stark background or the way the coat of the wolf came out kind of ...fuzzy. Maybe the fewer colours give us a chance to really look at the wolf and not be distracted. He's looking at his shadow like he's wondering why it doesn't look right. Shouldn't it be taller? And four legs...why four. ...something is not right....
I wrote a fantasy novel awhile back (which is terrible I admit but I'm the process of editing it.) Anyway, there are several wolf characters in the story so I've drawn them a few times and looked at a lot of references but I find it exeedingly difficult to capture that kind of personality in my drawings (and they certainly have it in real life).
That's why I noticed it in your image. It's quite well done. And I don't think it looks meh at all!!
Oh dear, it took me forever to crawl out of my hole this time.. I am so sorry!!
I am glad that you noticed the expressions the wolves have; I argued over that endlessly, trying to draw them.. it was rather tough! You'd think it would be easier, since you can cheat a little with the ears, but it's not. I also didn't want them to look like Balto wolves; nothing wrong with that style, but I wanted very wolf-ish wolves. Yeah, that's.. very technical, I know. XD XD I just didn't want them to be cute.
Anyway, ramble ramble.. thank you so much!! I overanalyse like crazy when I'm doing something different, I get just silly over it, so I really appreciate it when people point out the bits that are working.

Wow... The color of the shadows on the wolf's pelt are beautiful! That's a really interesting idea, what you did with your printer there. You know, most printers cease to function after two years anyway, no matter how well you treat them, so you might as well take advantage of the thing while it works, that's what I'm saying.
